Right on! A few months ago the mayor and most of the Houston City Council and several groups passed an ordinance requiring pastors submit their sermons for review to see if they are biased or otherwise nonpolitically correct. This was included in other requirements for non-discrimination, such as unisex bathrooms.

There was such an outcry, and pastors from five of the denominations and citizens' groups, that met with the mayor repeating the rights of expressing beliefs and quoting Scripture (it all got reported in the media) and the mayor only said it was the "wording" but backed down on the part that had to do with religion.

We have to be on our toes constantly, and there needs to be more outcries, backed up by our constitution, which is slowly being eroded.

Congratulations to your city, the brave pastors and city groups for fighting this battle against evil people and evil ideas. Constant vigilance on the parts of the righteous is going to be required the keep down such insanity.  Who would have ever dreamed a few years ago that our country would have ever descended this far into such a state of affairs in such a short time?

It's been a struggle because the gay community and its supporters have been getting stronger every year, nationally, and the mayor is a lesbian. I feel it's not over.

My sister has kept me informed about the entire situation and of course it is in all the news. She was so proud of the fact that her pastor was one of the pastors fighting the situation.

I didn't know that her pastor was one of the ones who met with the mayor. Praise God for people and church leaders who take a stand!

Her pastor is Ed Young and he is the pastor at 2nd Baptist in Houston.  He is a fantastic pastor and I am so thankful that she has that church where she can be a member.   She was here for Christmas and I was releived to see that her Parkinsons disease hasn't progressed too much yet.  I hope and pray that it will not do so for as long as possible.  Hopefully the meds she takes will slow down the progress. Please pray for her.

I will pray for her. Second Baptist has a campus about 10 minutes from my house. They merged with Forest Cove Baptist, which I attended for a while, some years ago and have grown.
