I subscribe to a newsletter written by a guy in Texas who calls himself Gran'pa Ed. He has given me permission to copy his material as long as I keep the thought content intact and give him the credit. I plan to post the material that I think would be of interest to you in this thread.

The House has passed, and the US Senate is expected to vote on the Hate Crimes Bill this Thursday. This bill will give special privileges to sexual devients of all types. Be sure your two US Senators know you are OPPOSED to any such bill and that all crimes should be treated equally.
I just heard that 63% of the American people agree with Obama and the Democrats on what they are doing to us and what they have planned for us!
But, is any of this Constitutional? The United States was founded as a Republic and a Republic must follow the Rule of Law of its Constitution.
But, does it? For the past 100 years the American people have been brainwashed into believing the United States is a democracy.
Well, what is the difference?
A democracy is majority rule and is destructive of liberty because there is no law to prevent the majority from trampling on individual rights. Whatever the majority says goes!
Whereas, a republic is a government of law under a Constitution. The Constitution holds the government in check and prevents the majority (acting through their government) from violating the rights of the individual.
Professor Alexander Fraser Tyler, two centuries ago, had this to say about democracy: " A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a Dictatorship."
Please read our US constitution, it is short and was written so that even the poorly educated farmer of the time could understand it. If you do not have a copy handy, you can find our Constitution on line at: http://www.constitution.org/constit_.htm
Please pay particular attention to Article 1, Section 8. This clearly spells out the powers granted to the Congress. Take note that there is nothing there about jobs, housing, health care, education and most of the other things our government is involved in. Our Tenth Amendment says these things are left to the states or to the people (citizens) themselves.

The “Cap & Trade” bill (American Clean Energy and Security Act, aka the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill) squeaked through the House with a 119 to 112 vote. Eight Republicans (mainly from NY, NJ and CA) voted for this horrendous Bill that will destroy our economy, while Forty-four Democrats voted against the bill.
The bill would regulate CO2 output. All animals, including humans, exhale CO2 and it's what vegetation "inhales" to live, and uses to produce the oxygen you need to live.
This new Cap and Trade bill will raise the price of everything you buy by at least 25%.

Jeff Kuhner, Columnist/Editor of the Washington Times, remarks about the Cap and Trade Bill. “Once again they passed a bill without being given the time to read the hundreds of pages that were added to it, at the last moment.”
The Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings last week on the "Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act,” S 909 (aka "Pedophile Protection Act"), but did not yet forward to the full Senate.
S 909 will mirror the already passed House bill HR 1913, which makes "sexual orientation," "gender," and "gender identity" into federally-protected classes and protects up to 547 types of sexually deviant behaviors, including:
Incest – sex with one’s offspring (a crime, of course)
Necrophilia – sexual relations with a corpse, also a crime
Pedophilia – sex with an underage child, another crime
Zoophilia – bestiality, a crime in numerous states
Voyeurism – a criminal offense in most states
Fronteurism – a man rubbing against an unknown woman’s buttocks
Coprophilia – sexual arousal from feces
Urophilia – sexual arousal from urine
This legislation also lays the legal foundation to investigate, prosecute and persecute pastors, youth pastors, Bible teachers, and anyone else whose speech and thought is based upon and reflects the truths found in the Bible.
Any public prayer against the sin of homosexuality could be construed as inciting violence, especially if those prayers are offered in Jesus' name.
S 909 infringes on our First Amendment Right to free exercise of religion and the freedom of speech.
Please contact your two US Senators immediately and urge them to speak up AGAINST the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act, S 909, and to vote AGAINST this bill when it comes to the Senate floor.
There is a bill presently being discussed in the Senate Committee for Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs that no one is talking about, the PASS Act, S 1261.
Proponents say this replaces the unpopular Real ID act, but it only replaces one section of the Real ID bill and makes Real ID even more tyrannical.
Then call the members of the Senate Committee,
and tell them:
You are opposed to Real ID and the PASS Act
You are opposed to being enrolled in a Biometric Identification System
You don't want Social Security Numbers in our DMV databases
No RFID chips in our Driver's Licenses
No federal intervention with the issuance of our State driver's licenses
You are not willing to trade any of your freedom for security.
All of these actions are unconstitutional and a direct attack on our civil liberties and our unalienable rights.
This bill must be killed before it gets to the Senate floor.

I say "Amen" to the basic premise. Materialism is polluting the earth - and people's minds and souls.
Capitalism without conscience is social Darwinism ("survival of the fittest" - if you can exploit someone to your economic gain, then you have every right to do it). Capitalism with Christian standards is perfectly good and the best economic scenario, but do we see that in most companies? I doubt it.
I think that Christians need to rethink their buying habits. If we think that God created the earth, how should we use and treat it? What is Christian about buying things made by companies that exploit other people? Read the Old Testament prophets and the Gospels and see how often Jesus and the prophets warned against mistreatment of the poor. It was part of the reason why Sodom and Gomorrah where destroyed and part of why Israel was driven into exile. Remember that the church at Laodicea was warned about their materialism (Revelation). What would Jesus buy? What would He decide He could live without?

Urgent - Contact your Senators
Item One: Sonia Sotomeyor
The United States deserves only the best people on its Supreme courts.
Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomeyor says that she is a poster child for “Affirmative Action.” She said that if it was not for Affirmative Action she would not have even gotten into college because of her poor grades and would not have advanced as she has.
Obama chose her because she would follow his radical socialist agenda rather than our Constitution when making decisions. She believes that our Constitution should be interpreted according to our culture, not as it was intended. Sotomeyor is a gun hating raciest that believes abortion is good for America and the world.
Please phone, fax and/or e-mail your two US Senators and tell them you do not approve of Sonia Sotomeyor for our Supreme Court. Tell them not to pay too much attention to what she says at the hearings, but to look at her record.
It has been reported that after the hearings, the Senators rush out to see what their constituents are saying. We must speak out. They are listening.
Item Two: Hate Crimes Bill
Majority Leader, Harry Reid is basically saying, protect the pedophiles or we will not pay the troops!
Reid is rushing the anti-faith Hate Crimes bill to the floor of the Senate this week by attaching it as an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill which Congress must pass in order to fund our military.
Reid knows opposition is growing and he fears the bill may not survive on its own.
We must contact our two US Senators and tell them we oppose the Hate Crimes amendment to the Defense Authorization bill.
We can stop this end run, but only if enough concerned Americans sound the alarm!
