Well, another eventful evening at the house of the little old lady in blue.
We had major rainfall, lightning was flashing, thunder was booming, wind was blowing, house was shaking and the cats were hiding. So I very calmly sat at my table and in the candle light I ate pasta with mushroom/garlic/onion tomato sauce. Candle light only because I thought the electricity might go away, but it didn't.

Then the search was on for Cupcake. The storm had abated somewhat, so I went outside. Cupcake, some of you know, is my next door kitty. But the neighbor next door is not home often and I have custody of Cupcake. She is a sweet outside cat, and lived in my garage all winter, with the door open a little bit so she could be free to come and go as she wanted. I had not seen her all day and I knew she would be hungry.

There was a band playing full force at the park today, just a couple blocks from my house, so the loud sound system blasted all over this tiny berg.....now add that to the thunder and the lightning and then the fireworks, and I could not blame Cupcake for going into hiding. If I could have found her I would have hidden with her. My cats were under my bed and there was not enough room under there for me too. Still, I was worried because Cupcake had not been around to eat her food all day.

So I went on a search for Cupcake. I have two front doors, and I went out the one that faces the driveway. The other one is just off the living room and has a little covered porch. The one I went out just steps right out onto the driveway. I looked on her own front porch and in the kitty condo bed I had put there for her. No Cupcake. I went through the back yard, the front, beneath the deck, around to the back of their house next door, and no cupcake. By this time I was drenched and my hair was curling madly around my head in the warm drizzle. My jeans were soaked as was my red white and blue shirt, and my blue suede shoes. I was not unhappy, it felt pretty good and smelled wonderful to finally have rain.

The first fireworks were set off, celebrating the birthday of our wonderful country and I came inside and got my camera. I thought I might as well, since I was already wet and so out I went, camera in hand, determined to catch the next colorful firework flash and find Cupcake at the same time.

I got a couple of shots of the fireworks, then looked for CC a little more, no Cupcake. Finally I decided to leave the food on my little front porch where she also has a little bed that I keep for her behind a potted scheffleria. (That's probably spelled wrong.) So I step up the 2 steps and onto the porch, and stepped right on Cupcake's tail. She must have been there all the time I was running around searching for her. I had not turned the porch lights on, because being the brave soul that I am, I figure if there is anybody lurking out there I stand a better chance of seeing him in the dark than I do if I target myself by turning an outside light on.

But there was Cupcake looking for all the world like I had neglected to feed her all day long. I guess she had been there all the time, in her bed behind the scheffleria (dang, there's that word again and I still can't spell it)....and I had not seen her, while she watched me search far and wide for her. I think she is much smarter than I am, since she was completely dry until I dripped all over her. Cat hair does not curl in the rain, did you know that?

And to think, it was under control till I hunted down Cupcake.
It is sitting there thinking about how tight it's going to curl itself as it dries. And how many little corkscrews it can curl itself into.
And y'all did not believe a word I said.

People pay good money to have curls like yours. Enjoy the freebies! Glad CC was fine and your pic is really nice.

Thanks Cajun...
And our great leader made me do the hair picture. I have no control over her, same as I have no control over my hair!

She makes me sound like some sort of slave driver doesn't she?  Hummmmm.  Maybe I am.  I will have to take that under consideration some day when I have some spare time. Smile
