About a week ago, my 4 year old grandson came for a short visit. He seems to love to come here, and he always wants to stay with me all by himself. He has been doing that since he was 2.

This time, since it was warm and sunny, we planted morning glory seeds. They usually grow fast and we can see them grow bigger from day to day.

We planted on Saturday, and he left on Sunday to go back to his home about 300 miles away.  He called on Monday.

"Nana, look outside and check my seeds."

So I took the phone outside with me to check the seeds.

"Nana, are they growing yet?"

They weren't growing yet, but the soil was looking a little rough, so I told him they were ready to pop up.

He called on Tuesday.

"Nana, are they growing yet?"

I could see little white spots on the top of the soil.

He called on Wednesday.

"Nana, tell me about my seeds."

And this same conversation continued through the week. I looked outside just today, and the little seedlings are maybe 2 inches tall.

I can't wait till he calls tomorrow.

Isn't it fun when a little guy gets all excited over his seeds? I can just imagine what he'll say when they begin to bloom.

These daily phone calls might just go on all summer long. I can hear it now:

"Nana, how many blooms today?"

"Nana, what colors do we have?"

And so it goes. What fun!!

You are creating a new gardener and what a delight to see the interest that a child can show when learning about God's creations.  I see the spark in you to teach him about gardening that must have been in your Aunt Bet when she taught you so much about plants.

He sounds like a great gardening partner. Did you take pics of the planting?

I do have pictures, and I'll come up with some of them soon. His morning glories are blooming, and he was here last weekend saying:  Hey Dad, look at what I growed!

He is a sweetheart.  Last night he called:  Hey Nana, I can't come see you this weekend, so don't do anything fun till I get there.

He needn't worry...my biggest fun is with him.
I think he knows that.

How precious!  Since you are young at heart and he is young, you make the perfect pair.  Little does he know how many enchanting adventures the two of you will have together.  Lucky him and lucky you. Very Happy
