Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime."
Martin Luther

"Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild;
Still I can trust Him, I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me and I am His child."
~Cushing~

In darkness there is no choice.
It is light that enables us to see the differences between things; and it is Christ who gives us light.

In His Name

We go to church for pleasure
We urge others do the same
We have to entertain ourselves
Regardless in "Who's Name"

We resort to worldly pleasures
So we can draw a throng
It's numbers we are after
Unmindful if it's wrong

It seems we cannot worship
Unless we make it fun
We work so hard to entertain
And leave "His Work" undone

We gather in "His Name" for charm
And honor to our neighbor
Congeniality is our concern
And oh, how hard we labor

If the Word is ineffective
To fill the empty pews
We offer substitution
It's numbers we pursue

We have high attendance Sunday
And we set a numbers goal
We entice with entertainment
Is that the pastors role

Jesus never threw a party
And He did not entertain
His attraction was the "Word of God"
He offered Love and Salvation
In His Name

POWER will leave you heartless.
LUST will leave you loveless.
MONEY will leave you comfortless.
DRUGS will leave you senseless.
JESUS won’t leave you regardless. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

When Will Jesus Return

When will Jesus return?
No one knows the date or time.
It may be in a few years
Or He might come back today!
The Bible says that God wants us to be ready all the time.

One thing is for SURE...
Jesus will come again and take His people home with Him to heaven.
Jesus is going to make everything new. He will make a new heaven and a new earth.
And Jesus will live there with His people.
And no one will ever cry again.

Satan tricked the first man and woman and ever since that time...
he has tried to turn people against God.
Satan says, "What God says, doesn't matter. You can do whatever you want."
Some people believe this trick.
They lie and steal and hate each other.
They try to forget about God.
Satan comes only to steal kill and destroy!
He wants to destroy you and me because we are the crown of God's creation!
BUT...God will win in the end!!
God will throw Satan into hell. He has taken the keys
to death, hell, and the grave and He reigns in VICTORY!!"
Someday I will sit down with Jesus. He will put His arms around me

Then Jesus will say,
"I love you...I died for...and you ARE Mine!
Well done, good and faithful servant!"

Come, Lord Jesus, Come!

The Promise

" Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uph
old thee
with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4)

"Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it."
- King Solomon, Song of Solomon

The Promise

There's a promise in our sorrow
and a blessing when we sigh.
There's a light beyond the shadows
and a cleansing when we cry.

So when we are discouraged,
and face tremendous grief;
it is during those times of trouble,
that the heavens send relief.

With our heart in tune with Jesus,
our source of joy and peace,
be mindful of His promise,
that all suffering He would cease.

He's cried our tears of sadness;
He's felt our every pain,
He's walked our path before,
all glory to His name.

Just listen for the spirit,
as it whispers to be still,
for there is joy and comfort
beyond sad Calvary's hill.

So if the sky should darken
and if the earth should quake,
remember life has struggles
on the journey that we take.

The aftermath of sorrow
is beauty and pure light,
if we can fight the battle
and pray with soul and might.

He sent us rainbow colors
to follow cleansing rain,
He showed us there are miracles
that come with all the pain.

Seek forbearance in the hardships,
or when we fear or roam.
Cast your burdens on the Savior,
and He'll come and take us home.

For He is our great Redeemer
our only true best friend,
He promised he would never leave,
He'll guide us to the end.

I Thirst

I thirst, but not as once I did,
The vain delights of earth to share;
Thy wounds, Emmanuel, all forbid
That I should seek my pleasures there.

It was the sight of Thy dear cross
First weaned my soul from earthly things;
And taught me to esteem as dross
The mirth of fools, and pomp of kings.

I want that grace that springs from Thee,
That quickens all things where it flows;
And makes a wretched thorn like me
Bloom as the myrtle or the rose.

Dear fountain of delight unknown!
No longer sink beneath the brim,
But overflow, and pour me down
A living and life-giving stream!

For sure, if all the plants that share
The notice of Thy Father's eye,
None proves less grateful to His care,
Or yields Him meaner fruit than I.

... William Cowper (1731-1800)

The Dogwood Tree

When Christ was on earth, the dogwood grew
To a towering size with a lovely hue.
Its branches were strong and interwoven
And for Christ's cross its timbers were chosen.
Being distressed at the use of the wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:

"Not ever again shall the dogwood grow
To be large enough for a tree, and so
Slender and twisted it shall always be
With cross-shaped blossoms for all to see.

The petals shall have bloodstains marked brown
And in the blossom's center a thorny crown.
All who see it will think of Me,
Nailed to a cross from a dogwood tree.
Protected and cherished this tree shall be.
A reflection to all of My agony.

And oh! There lives within my heart
A hope, long nursed by me;
(And should its cheering ray depart,
How dark my soul would be!)

That as in Adam all have died,
In Christ shall all men live;
And ever round His throne abide,
Eternal praise to give.

That even the wicked shall at last
Be fitted for the skies;
And when their dreadful doom is past,
To life and light arise.

I ask not how remote the day,
Nor what the sinners' woe,
Before their dross is purged away;
Enough for me, to know

That when the cup of wrath is drained,
The metal purified,
They'll cling to what they once disdained,
And live by Him that died.

Will You Miss Him
Author unknown

They were looking for a lion,
He came as a Lamb, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a warrior,
He came as a Peacemaker, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a king,
He came as a Servant, and they missed Him.

They were looking for liberation from Rome,
He submitted to the Roman cross, and they missed Him.

They were looking for a fit to their mold,
He was the mold maker, and they missed Him.

What are you looking for? Lion? Warrior? King? Liberator?
What are you looking for?

They were looking for their temporal needs to be met,
He came to meet their eternal need, and they missed Him.

He came as a Lamb to be sacrificed for your sin.
Will you miss Him?

He came to make peace between God and man.
Will you miss Him?

He came to model servant-hood for all mankind.
Will you miss Him?

He came that we might have true liberty.
Will you miss Him?

When we submit to the Lamb, we will meet the Lion.
Join with the Peacemaker, and we will meet the Warrior.
Work with the Servant, and we will meet the King.
Walk with the Submitted, and we will meet the Liberator.
Concern ourselves with the eternal, and we will have the
temporal.

If Jesus is not fitting into the mold you have, then come to the
mold maker and get a new one. Submit to His plan for your life
and you will see eternal need met first; then all the other
things you have need of will be taken care of as well.

Remember that sometimes the only Jesus people will see is the Jesus they see in Us
