We Are a Treasure or Jewels to the Lord

We Are a Treasure or Jewels to the Lord
Malachi 3:17 - KJV And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
When He Cometh

When He cometh, when He cometh
To make up His jewels,
All His jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.

Refrain

Like the stars of the morning,
His brightness adorning,
They shall shine in their beauty,
Bright gems for His crown.

He will gather, He will gather
The gems for His kingdom;
All the pure ones, all the bright ones,
His loved and His own.

Refrain

Little children, little children,
Who love their Redeemer,
Are the jewels, precious jewels,
His loved and His own.

Refrain

God's Warrior

Let's reflect on the words to the song and how God looks on His people both now and in the day when He will come to take us home with Him. Isaiah (61:10) speaks of how the Lord clothes us with "garments of salvation...as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." He said that the people of God would be a "crown of splendor in the Lord's hand".  Zechariah wrote that when God comes to save His people "they will sparkle in His land like jewels in a crown."

Other passages in the Old Testament refer to how the Lord "takes delight" in His people, even to the point of rejoicing over us "with singing".  (Zeph.3:17) This passage is referred  to in the hymn, "Praise the Lord, the King of Glory". The prophet Malachi ends the Old Testament by quoting the Lord as He speaks of those who revere Him and honor His name: They willl be mine....in the day when I make up my reassured possession."

Praise the Lord!  We are a treasure or jewels to God Almighty.  Come what may, this fact should be a constant source of peace and joy for all of us who "long for His appearing."
