Psalms 107:28-31 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
I did not know His love before,
The way I know it now.
I could not see my need for Him,
My pride would not allow.
I had it all, without a care,
The "Self-sufficient" lie.
My path was smooth, my sea was still,
Not a cloud was in my sky.
I thought I knew His love for me,
I thought I'd seen His grace,
I thought I did not need to grow,
I thought I'd found my place.
But then the way grew rough and dark,
The storm clouds quickly rolled;
The waves began to rock my ship,
My anchor would not hold.
The ship that I had built myself
Was made of foolish pride.
It fell apart and left me bare,
With nowhere else to hide.
I had no strength or faith to face,
The trials that lay ahead,
And so I simply prayed to Him
And bowed my weary head.
His loving arms enveloped me,
And then He helped me stand.
He said, "You still must face this storm,
But I will hold your hand."
So through the dark and lonely night
He guided me through pain.
I could not see the light of day
Or when the storm might wane.
Yet through the aches and endless tears,
My faith began to grow.
I could not see it at the time,
But my light began to glow.
I saw God's love in brand new light,
His grace and mercy, too.
For only when all self was gone
Could Jesus' love shine through.
It was not easy in the storm,
I sometimes wondered, "Why?"
At times I thought, "I can't go on."
I'd hurt, and doubt, and cry.
But Jesus never left my side,
He guided me each day.
Through pain and strife,
Through fire and flood,
He helped me all the way.
And now I see as never before
How great His love can be.
How in my weakness He is strong,
How Jesus cares for me!
He worked it all out for my good,
Although the way was rough.
He only sent what I could bear,
and then He cried, "Enough!"
He raised His hand and said, "Be still!"
He made the storm clouds cease.
He opened up the gates of joy
And flooded me with peace.
I saw His face now clearer still,
I felt His presence strong,
I found anew His faithfulness,
He never did me wrong.
Now I know more storms will come,
But only for my good,
For pain and tears have helped me grow
As naught else ever could.
I still have so much more to learn
As Jesus works in me;
If in the storm I'll love Him more,
That's where I want to be!

Storms Bring Out the Eagles but the Little Birds Take Cover
By Helen Steiner Rice
When the "storms of life" gather darkly ahead,
I think of those wonderful words
I once read.
And I say to myself
As threatening clouds hover,
"Don't fold up your wings"
And "run for cover."
But like the eagle,
"Spread wide your wings"
And "soar far above"
The troubles life brings.
For the eagle knows
That the higher he flies,
The more tranquil and brighter
Become the skies.
And there is nothing in life
God ever asks us to bear
That we can't soar above
"On the wings of prayer."
And in looking back over
The "storm you passed through,"
You'll find you gained strength
And new courage, too.
For in facing "life's storms"
With an eagle's wings,
You can fly far above
Earth's small, petty things.

And He said unto me,
My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,
in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's
sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

The Storm
Author unknown
When the tide comes rolling in,
And the mighty oceans roar,
It can go on land so far
That is all, it goes no more.
When the storm clouds gather round us
And the great big raindrops fall,
Just so much will fall to earth
as it heeds the Master's call.
When the load becomes so heavy
That the body cries in pain,
Remember that this too will end
Like the ocean and the rain.
So adorn thyself with gladness,
Remember God is really there.
He takes time to feed the sparrow,
And he always answers prayer.

Peace Be Still
David Stewart
"And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm"
(Mark 4:39)
Then sounds the world's threatening cry,
And roaring of their thunder.
When you feel the heaving of your life,
And see the foaming water.
Then from the midst of this swelling sea,
A voice so calm and clear.
Twas, "Peace be still," that reached my ear,
Calmed my heart, and allayed my fear.
Oh, words of a Savior that gave me Peace,
Though the world round me roar.
Safe in Him, my peace complete,
There for evermore.

'Til the Storm Passes By
Author Unknown
Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try.
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by."
But I know God is with me and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the sky.
Until the storm passes over, 'til the thunder sounds no more.
'Til the clouds roll forever from the sky--
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand.
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

Trials
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James_1:2-4_NIV

Hebrews 13:5-6, "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
Sometimes things may get overwhelming, but I encourage you to take a minute and remember God is still on the throne and He is still in control. Instead of worrying about your problem, just give it to God and He is faithful to handle any situation.

Matthew 6: 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. An old Hymn
How Can I Fear with Jesus
When shadows fall, and the night covers all
There are things that my eyes cannot see
How can I fear? For the Savior is near
He walks along with me
How can I fear? Jesus is near
He ever watches over me
Worries all cease; He gives me peace
How can I fear, with Jesus?
When I'm alone, and I face the unknown
And I fear what the future may be
I can depend, on the strength of my Friend
My Lord abides with me
How can I fear? Jesus is near
He ever watches over me
Worries all cease; He gives me peace
How can I fear, with Jesus?

Hold us in quiet through the age-long minute
While Thou are silent, and the wind is shrill:
Can the boat sink while Thou, dear Lord, art in it?
Can the heart faint what waiteth on They will?

In Heavenly Love Abiding
In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall fear.
And safe in such confiding, for nothing changes here.
The storm may roar without me, my heart may low be laid,
But God is round about me, and can I be dismayed?
Wherever He may guide me, no want shall turn me back.
My Shepherd is beside me, and nothing can I lack.
His wisdom ever waking, His sight is never dim.
He knows the way He’s taking, and I will walk with Him
Green pastures are before me, which yet I have not seen.
Bright skies will soon be over me, where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure, my path to life is free.
My Savior has my treasure, and He will walk with me.
When the storm clouds rise and the sky is dark,
When opressed with anxious care;
I've a safe retreat in the strong high tower,
For no ill can harm me there.
When the lightnings flash and the thunders roll,
And the storms in fury beat;
When they seem so sure to engulf my soul,
Then I hide in the safe retreat.
Soon the storms will pass and the sky will clear
And my rest be calm and sweet;
I will trust and wait with no anxious fear,
For I hide in the safe retreat.
I will hide in the safe retreat.
I will hide in the safe retreat.
When the storm clouds fly
Till they pass me by
I will hide in the safe retreat.
