The Prophetic Significance of the Tsunamis
Martha - 2005
Several people have asked me questions regarding the prophetic significance of the Tsunamis. I am in no way speaking as an authority, but these facts I have gathered.
Many scientists believe that the continents of the earth were once connected, but because of a cataclysmic event they became divided. Some believe that before the flood of Noah that the land was one main mass, however, after the flood of Noah the there was a possible shifting of the platelets of the continents. (Gen. 7). The Bible gives us the name of a man, Peleg, and tells us that in his day the land was divided (Gen. 10:25). In Hebrews, the name Peleg means "earthquake". This could allude to a major shaking of the earth which occurred sometime after the flood. We know the tower of Babel was destroyed and the universal language was confused (Gen. 11). We know that today there are large bodies of water surrounding large masses of land. The recent disaster was caused by the shifting of two of the platelets, one which moved above the other, thus forcing a hugh amount of water to be pushed toward these island nations. These nations are a part of the 10/40 window, where 95% of the population has never heard the name of Jesus. When the shifting occurred it created 9.0 magnitude earthquake and sent waves of water some 30 feet high. These 2 events happened at once - the largest earthquake on record in 40 years(ha) and the worlds largest disaster caused by the sea and the waves. I heard a geologist from the UN say the entire earth shifted as a result of the earthquake and the Tusnia - this shocked me and I remembered stange verses in Isaiah 24:18-20: .."For the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake, "The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. "The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage". I believe these verses are referring to The Tribulation, but what we have just experienced could be a small preview. They also indicate that during the tribulation a great earthquake, such was never known in the history of the world will occur. This will cause islands to be moved out of their place. Read Rev. 6:12 and 6:14. Luke 21:25-26 tells us of the "Seas and waves roaring. I also read what Paul said in Romans *:22, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now". This is not the Tribulation, because the Rapture has not occurred. This I believe is a fulfillment of Matt. 24:8, more birth pains.
