The Central Flaw of Socialism —
*Dr. Adrian Rogers (1931-2005)

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without
receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not
have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

*Adrian Pierce Rogers (September 12, 1931 – November 15, 2005), was an American pastor, conservative, author, and a three-term president of the Southern Baptist Convention (1979-1980 and 1986-1988).
Snookie

I've heard it illustrated in a couple of different ways.

Say one of your children comes in from Halloween proud of how much candy they've accumulated.  Now, say you told this child to be "fair" you were going to take 1/2 of their candy and give it to their sibling even though that sibling chose not to go out that evening and knock on doors.  Normal reaction would be to object since that sibling didn't do anything to earn it.

Another example...say you go to a restaurant to eat.  After eatting, you pay the bill but tell the waiter/waitress that you're going to take their tip, that they earned, and give it to the person sitting outside on the curb because they need it more.

This is much different than the child deciding to be generous and give their candy away.  That's free will.  Same with the waiter/waitress that decides to help the needy.

Excellent examples, Snookie. Thanks for that input.
