Last night we had had a snowstorm and everything was white and snow covered outside. I took advantage of the brilliant winter sunlight streaming in the sliding doors of the deck to sort socks. I don’t know about you but I have dozens of pairs of “black” socks. I work in security and black socks are a required part of my uniform. Now for those of you who don’t know, not all “black” socks are alike. They vary in color and texture and the stitching on the toe. Now under ordinary artificial light they all pretty much all look the same. In the light of the sun you can better see the slight variations, thus easier to sort. My wife had made up three bundles of “unmatched socks”. With the help of the bright sunlight and some socks in the clothes basket
I was able to make seven pairs. The artificial light just didn’t do it. I got to thinking; the bright sunlight helped me to sort socks. The light of the SON helps me to sort through my life. The Son’s light helps me to discern choices, and reveals good and evil. The artificial light of the world doesn’t help in life. It deceives you into making false pairs.
John 8:12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."
