Please pray for my dogThis may seem like an odd request but to an animal lover it will be easy to understand. My border collie, Galloway, is 9 1/2 years old and I love him dearly. Today I was petting him and I found a lump on his left side about 3"behind his front leg. So we are off to the vet tomorrow. Please pray that it turns out to be nothing serious. He and I have been through some tough times together and he has taken care of me. He is very special.

AWWWW! I am so sorry that he has a problem. I am praying for both of you. I know how much he means to you and that he is your very special care giving dog when you have your physical problems. I have never known his exact training but I do know that he is terribly important to you for that and for many other reasons. I do hope and pray that he will be ok. My last dog had one of those when she was old and it turned out to be ok and they just removed it. I pray that will be the case with him. Please let us know what the vet says.

I took Galloway for his appontment with the vet yesterday. He was very well behaved. Galloway was good too. LOL There was nobody else in the office so we were able to go straight into a room. The vet came in and was glad to see us. We visited for a bit and then he checked Galloway's side. I don't need to tell you I was holding my breath. After no more than a few seconds he looked up and smiled. The news was good. The lump is nothing to be concerned about. It is called a lipoma and many older dogs get them. It is simply an encased portion of fat in the subcutaneous tissue. The vet said if it ever starts to bother Galloway we can have it removed. I was so relieved and thankful to God for answered prayers. Thank you all for praying for my best friend. He means the world to me.

That lipoma was exactly what my old dog had. I remember being quite relieved when I found that it wasn't cancer. How wonderful that Galloway will be ok. I bet both of you were quite excited when you left the office. Loved the line about the vet being well behaved! Tee hee!

NO not at all. I think all dog lovers pray for their best buds.

The Bible tells us to pray about all things. I certainly consider our best buddies important enough to pray about.
Example: My cat has had a lot of difficult and very expensive health problems for a long time. Only when my vet's technician, a very godly woman, started praying earnestly about this did solutions began to emerge for my poor little kitty's problems. I called her immediately when this started to occur and told her that I knew that she must be praying for this situation and she readily admitted that she had been. Thank the Lord for caring and loving Christian friends! Isn't our Lord that we gladly serve daily wonderful?

Isn't it humbling to know that God loves us so much that whatever is important to us is important to Him? When others put us off and dismiss our worries as trivial, God never does.

I need to ask for prayers for my best bud again. He is limping badly on his right front and I think it is in his shoulder. I don't know if he may have slipped on the ice when he went out or if it is his arthritis. He is in pain and looks up at me pitifully. Please remember him in your prayers. Thankyou.

Prayers going up for your buddy again. Hopefully it will be something minor this time.

Thank you so much. He is bearing weight on it this morning so it must be his arthritis. I guess I will have to put him on some maintenance meds. He is much more comfortable today. This cold is as hard on him as it is on me. It's 10 degrees this morning and the high will be 27 but the next few days should be warmer. They said lots of sunshine tomorrow and a high of 40. I will be out tomorrow soaking up the rays!

Great! I hope to stock up on a few sun rays in the next couple of days myself.

Certainly! Smokey has been limping some too. We think it's from jumping off the bed onto the wood floor. Sometimes his legs go out from under him when he does this. We think he strained something.

Hi dog lovers. I'll share a silly story (not silly to me) that I tell people when we discuss religion. I tell people to think of their dog/cat/whatever your pet, and think about the fact that you can only train your pet to a certain level. You can communicate with your pet, but you cannot explain concepts to them. Example: You cannot explain to your pet why they should always look both ways before crossing the street, etc. You cannot explain to them why they should not take actions that are harmful. I.E. eating posioned food, jumping off places that are too high and that may damage their legs, etc.
Now imagine your relationship with God. You have a limited ability to understand what God would like us to know or do.
Your pet will blindly follow and trust you. In my simple mind, I try to look at things the way my pets do, trusting, obeying, knowing that I will never understand certain things.
I may not always manage to take the correct approach, however, there is still time to try and improve.
May all your prayers be answered, if it is God's will. Think about the story I just told. If they are not answered, just like your pet, maybe we are not able to understand and maybe God cannot make us understand.

That is a very good analogy, Al. And so very accurate. We just have to trust God to be God and understand He not only knows the past and present but the future as well. And that He works all things for our good.

I think the wood floors may also be giving Galloway a hard time. He has fur between his pads and I think he slips a bit when he walks. He tries not to move around a lot. I thought
of trimming the hair but I think it may give him a bit of insulation against the cold when he has to go out. He is walking well today. Not even a limp and he is able to get up on the couch.

Will do!
It's funny that I saw your posts because I found myself carrying our little Yorkie the other day praying for him. He was pacing the house and drooling very badly. Something was obviously very wrong. He would crawl up on my chest, place his paws on my shoulders, and just stare at me like he wanted me to fix whatever was wrong. After a trip to the vet, it turned out he was having stomach problems likely brought on by stress from our having kept my sister-in-law's dog for a couple of days. Medicine and a diet change have helped. Initially I felt silly for praying for a dog, but I believe prayer made the biggest difference because he's never felt better.

So glad your little guy is feeling better. Galloway has a nervous disposition. He throws up when he gets nervous.
