Please Pray for Charles GammonI received this request from Tina Earwood from Covington, TN. The author of the request is a dear friend of hers. Please join me in praying for Mr. Charles Gammon.
Hey Everybody,
My Dad, Charles Gammon, has been diagnosed with Basilar Stenosis (blocked main artery to the brain). He has been to a stent specialist and they were NOT optimistic of his chances with a stent because his blockage is so severe (95% blocked). They will, however, do the procedure IF he wants to take the risk (they explained that this blockage is in the worst possible place --- extremely dangerous and complicated). Medicare will NOT pay for this procedure. The procedure will cost $25,000. for one day (without any complications, etc.) If the procedure does not work --- he will die or be in a vegetative state. If he does not have the procedure he will stroke out and die or be in a vegetative state. My Dad is a Christian. I ask that you all please PRAY for him as he seeks GOD'S will for his life. Pray that our family will have peace with whatever decision God places on Daddy's heart.
Thank you all in advance for your prayers!!!
LOVE to you All,

Please know that my prayers will be with your dad. God will be with him through it all because he is a Christian and will give the family the comfort and strength they need to see him through this traumatic situation.

Thank you ALL for your prayers -- they are truly felt! Daddy feels God leading him to go ahead with the stent procedure. He has scheduled to have the procedure on Thursday, September 21st. He is scheduled to be the first patient of the day, so likely around 7 - 7:30am. He has expressed that he has placed it in God's hands whatever the outcome. In addition to praying for Daddy and us as his family, please also pray for the Doctors and Nurses that will be attending Daddy that day. We are truly blessed to have such good friends AND friends of friends!!! I will, of course, let you all know how things go. I pray that God will BLESS each and every one of you for your kindness and thoughtfulness!!!
Love in Christ,

My Dad & Mom and our whole family live in the Southaven / Horn Lake area of Mississippi (just south of the Memphis, TN line). Daddy will be having surgery at Baptist EAST Hospital in Memphis, TN and his Neuro-Radiologist is Dr. Barr. Daddy is 69 years young. They started him today on all new medications getting him ready for the procedure on Thursday. This blocked artery is the only serious thing wrong with Daddy. His other arteries are clear and his heart is good. He does have arthritis in his knees, but still able to walk, etc. The Dr. even said that his brain looks great! If you could picture your index finger as the blood flow going to the brain.... Daddy's blocked area is as thin as (1) strand of hair in comparison. The Dr. told him that his atoms were having to line up just to get through that small of a space. He told him this was the worst case scenario in the worst place possible. But, through prayer and petitions we feel optimistic for a MIRACULOUS HEALING!!! And, if the Lord has other plans, then Daddy will just get to be with Jesus sooner than we had expected. Not to write a book, but my Dad has been a recovered Alcoholic for 30 years and his life has changed dramatically in those years. He will tell anybody that he did go through AA, BUT, his higher power does have a name and His name is JESUS CHRIST. He has been very active (until the last couple of months) with my grand-daughter and my sister's children. He, my sister and I have been accountability partners for healthier eating and weight loss since February of this year. I know nobody is ever ready to lose a loved one -- I pray that God can still use him here for HIS KINGDOM. I can't THANK YOU enough for your caring prayers!!! Christ's LOVE to you ALL!!! Becky

What a wonderful posting! It is always good when you leave it in God's hands and from your post it is obvious that Your father has done just that. I continue to pray for your Dad, your family, you and the doctors who are attending him.

Thanks again, Zany. I will email your comment from the post above along with email I have received to Tina later on tonight. His surgery is Thursday, so I want to keep him up to date as to our prayers for him. I don't know about everyone else, but it always brings me comfort knowing about the individual known prayers that are being prayed for me. Of course, there will be MANY that only the Lord will know about and hear and that is always so wonderful and comforting to know.

My son just called me to remind me to pray for Mr. Gammon as he should be in the operating room at this time. I pray that the Lord will guide the hands of the surgeons as they work on his body and that he will have a successful operation with no complications. Amen and amen!

Today we have a PRAISE the Lord reply! Sorry I have been behind on my posting and didn't let everyone know the wonderful results of the surgery and of our prayers sooner.

Hey Everybody,
God is GOOD and He gets all the PRAISE!!! I have already talked with some of you by phone already, but here's the latest. Daddy's procedure was successful and went well yesterday. I can't thank you all enough for all your PRAYERS -- they WORKED!!! He is still in ICU this morning. He had an ok night, but a little grumpy -- catheters and nausea... He has to lie flat until 3pm this afternoon. Daddy has arthritis so lying flat is VERY HARD for him. If all goes well they MAY put him in a regular room this evening. The Dr. says the next few days are still critical because his brain and blood pressure have to get adjusted to the new amount of blood flow to the brain. So if you will keep praying for a little while longer. We expect that he will be in the hospital for a few more days if things go well when he starts moving around. I'm home getting a shower and returning to the hospital. I will keep you all posted. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL PRAYERS --- THANK GOD FOR LISTENING AND ANSWERING!!!!!
LOVE to ALL,

Hey Everybody,
A lot has happened since my last write. At 3pm on Friday afternoon they told us they would try and get Daddy a regular room, then at 4pm they said they were sending him home. They let Daddy come home Friday night around 5:00pm (which totally shocked us because they had given us a 10 min. speech about how he would HAVE to be in ICU for 2 or 3 days right before they took him to surgery). Shortly after getting home he started not being able to urinate (at all) and was up ALL night hurting and unable to urinate. We took him to his primary care doctor on Saturday and they gave him medicine & antibiotics and said that if he did not urinate by late evening to take him to the Emergency Room. Well, he did not urinate and was in severe pain and had to have a trip to the emergency room. They have him hooked up to a Foley Catheter with a bag. He is home now and has to see a Urologist on Monday (due to enlarged prostate which has totally cut off the tube that runs through it to urinate). The Catheter was routed to by-pass the prostate. I hope that ya'll don't mind keeping him in your prayers a bit longer. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!

Hi Again,
Daddy went to the Urologist yesterday and he took out the catheter and doubled his medicines and sent him home. He had to go to the Emergency Room AGAIN this AM to get another cath. Daddy now has to make another appt. to see the Urologist (he's going to a different one this time). So, I don't know what's going to happen at this point. I do ask that ya'll continue to PRAY. Daddy is having no problems with the Brain Stent. (How ironic!) God is STILL Good and STILL in control and I know that with help from all your prayers that He'll get him through this rough spot too!!!
THANKS ALL,
Love - Becky Tutor

Thank you for the update. That the brain stint worked is wonderful news! The urinary problem is worrisome but as you said, it is in God's hands and I will keep praying for him.

Isn't this wonderful? This man wasn't given much of a chance and just look what our Lord has done for him once he placed himself totally in God's hands.

Hi Everyone,
Daddy went to Church today and is feeling pretty good. They finally have his Plavix (blood slicker) levels where they want them. So the stent seems to be working fine. He still has the catheter - he'll have the microwave procedure at the end of this month to reduce his prostate. Thank you ALL so very much for praying for us during this time. We're all glad to have Daddy somewhat back to "normal"!
Love to you ALL,
