PerseverePerseverence cannot be undersold. Many times I wonder if I have given up too early. Had I shown a bit more perseverence, would I have been successful?Knock did not have to wonder. His first horse show was less than a success. He slipped and slid all over his saddle and came close to falling more than a few times. Many of the onlookers wanted to go into the ring and rescue him. But we did not allow it. We knew he was a good rider and needed to find it out for himself. He kept putting time in on the horse and working at it. The next month's show at the same arena, his perseverence paid off. He won 1st place in the same class he nearly fell out of the month before. He could have gotten scared and let that fear rob him of all the fun he has had riding. But he chose to keep working at it and now he is enjoying the rewards of his perseverence.
