On the Road to Stupid

On the Road to Stupid

To appreciate the following information try to think of why people get jobs and go to work.

O.K., now that you have your answer, read the following.

In a recent article in USA Today Snapshots, 388 Administrative Professionals were asked what were the most preferred forms of recognition at the workplace.

The answers:

Verbal recognition…42%
Cash Bonuses………19%
Additional time off….9%
Training or Seminars..7%
Cards/Notes…………6%
Liars/ Idiots………...81% ( My comment) How did I reach this conclusion? Subtract (19% Cash bonuses) from 100%.)

My analysis as to why you would get such answers: It is getting more and more difficult for people to say what they honestly believe and think. Political “Hit Men” from all sides are working hard to make it appear that certain assumptions are correct, regardless of the truth of the assumption, and further, they try to make you look stupid for not agreeing with a stupid assumption. In addition, more and more people are not willing to stand up against criticism even when they are positive they are right on an issue.

It is a strange world we live in.

Yes, and getting stranger every day.  Aren't we glad that you and I are normal?  Smile

Folks like us used to be the norm but now it seems we are a dying breed. Being killed off in the name of political correctness.

I don't know about you guys but I don't kill off that easily. As my little granny used to say, "Never say die until you are dead!,"  and I AIN'T dead YET!!!!! How are you doing, Cajun. I am still praying for you, my friend.

I was doing a bit better until yesterday. I feel a bit better today but the day is young. LOL I have been out weeding in my garden this morning and called my uncle to wish him a happy birthday. Had a full day yesterday and ate with friends last night. Of course, I ate too much as usual! I have some special chores laid out for myself today if it doesn't get too hot to get them done. The humidity has me using my inhaler more often now. But maybe today will be better. We are meeting our kids this weekend in Pigeon Forge to get our grandson for about 6 weeks. I am really looking forward to that!!!

Hi Cajun.  I JUST used your name in vain in my Gardening Woes and Wows thread.  Check it out.  I really appreciate all the advice that you have given everyone concerning growing tomatoes and I am trying to take advantage of your superior tomato knowlege this year.

Sounds like things are a little bit better for you now. I will pray that your health will continue to improve. Have a really good time in Pigeon Forge and enjoy that grandson.  I plan to take my grandson fishing later this week if all goes well. We haven't done that before but I have a friend with a boat who is willing to take us and I plan to take advantage of that offer.  Whether we catch any fish or not it will be a great day for me and for him.

Fishing sounds like a fine idea. Wish I had the time. I love to sit on the bank in the shade and drown worms. LOL Even if I don't catch anything, the peace and quiet is well worth the trip. Hope you guys catch a boat load. Let us know how it goes.
Snookie

Even if you don't catch anything, sometimes it's just about the trip.  I have good memories of those trips with my Dad.

Cajun,
Just finished up a wonderful 3 days with my grandson. He got to go out in a real boat and fish in a real lake. The man that took us out is one of my fishing, coffee drinking buddies. He has a real large fishing boat and all the equipment needed to fish for everything from bass to catfish. We caught mostly blue gill and three catfish. My grandson was in “hog heaven”. The fish were biting and he was pulling them in. When we started back to the boat dock, my friend let my grandson drive the boat. He told him to “open it up”, and open it up he did. What a thrill for a little boy. On the way home, I asked my grandson to rate his stay with us from 1-10 with 10 being the best. He gave it a 10 without hesitation.

Snookie,
I have been blessed to see the happiness in my son and now my grandson’s face during their first fishing trips. It really is about the trip and the memories and not about the fish you catch.  (Although it is nice to catch a lot of fish!)
