Archive for The Gathering Place "The Gathering Place" is a web community where people can gather and make new friends, share ideas, enjoy a few laughs and learn about many interesting things together. It is a safe place where friends can correspond with each other about what they love.
As I was driving in to work I passed by the turnoff to where I grew up. All I had to do was make a left, go past the water tower and the park, and cut across the school grounds and I would be in my back yard. Execpt itwasn't my back yard anymore. My dad had sold the house I grew up in this past summer. In fact it had not been "my house" since I moved out in 1978. Still I was struck with a strong feeling of sadness as I drove along tonight as I thought about it. Then I realized that if the sale of my childhood home could evoke such feelings, what of our old "spiritual home"? Yet we are not of the "old home", but the New heavenly home! see phil 3:20For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; and John 17:15-16 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to the world.
So when the "old home" makes you feel sad, just remember it's condemed and ready to be burned, and you have a bright shiny new mansion awating you in heaven!
