My DH needs prayer

My DH is a diabetic and he is having complications with an ulcer on his foot. He is fighting infection and chills and fever. Please pray that God would show him favor and heal him from this dreadful disease.
God's Warrior

I am praying for him as I just told you a few minutes ago on your forum.  I am so sorry that he is going through this misery. Has he had this sort of thing happen before or is this something new?  The disease is so cruel and frightening for those who live through it.

Please Lord heal this dear man, your servant who spends his life ministering to your people and who needs his health and abilities to work for the advancement of Your Kingdom to the best of his abilities.  He puts his love, hope and trust in your Lord and he needs his health to do that to the very best of his abilities.  Amen
Mary

I'm praying for him.  What is the cause of it?

My husband is in urgent need of prayer. I may have to take him to the hospital shortly. Please pray for him. He is a diabetic and he is fighting infection in an ulcer on his foot. He may also have cellulitis. He is running a high fever, has chills and is nauseated.  PLEASE pray for his healing.
God's Warrior

My prayers are with your guys. Keep us informed please.

I sent the prayer request to the 140 people on my email list.

I have created a new thread for such emergencies.  When prayer is needed we need everyone who is available praying for the need.

Here is the new thread telling everyone to come to this one for more information.

My prayers are with you both.

I will be praying for you and your husband with all my heart.

My own dear husband is just now recovering from a 6 month ordeal to save his ulcerated foot because of diabetic complications. It was touch and go for us but with prayers and with the amazing advances that have been made in treatments My Bob is now walking again even if it is with restrictions.

The treatments he underwent were miracles in many ways. The use of surgery combined with a wound vac, intravenous antibiotics and a new product to close the wound made it possible for him to keep walking and avoid amputation. That could not have happened just 2 short years ago.

May God watch over and heal the wound.
God's Warrior

Praise the Lord that your Bob is doing well now Brenda.  I had no idea that he was having such problems.  We would have certainly been in prayer for him here at TGP if we had known.  I hope and pray that he will continue to do well with his current treatment.

How is your sweet little Mom doing these days?  I was wondering the other day how old she is now.  Please give her a big hug and tell her that a friend of hers that she doesn't even know said hi. Smile
CajuninKy

Just back from the ER. DH was admitted and is on IV antibiotics. His fever broke is is now only a low grade temp. Knock is with friends and they will bring him to school in the morning. I am beat. I will update when I have gotten some rest and have more info. Thank you all so very much for your prayers. You don't know what they mean to us.
CajuninKy

DH is feeling a lot better this morning but I can tell he is wiped out. They are doing a bone scan today to see if the infection has gotten into the bone.
God's Warrior

I am still praying and I sent out another email to many folks this morning asking for prayer. I get replies to my requests on a regular basis so be assured that many people are praying.
CajuninKy

Thank you so much. I am leaving for the hospital.

Mom is doing great. She is 80 and discovering fun things like having her first pedicure and train travel. Dad's biggest worry before he passed was that she would give up on life. So in order to keep her promise to him she is pushing herself to try new things and keep active.

Bob ended up losing one toe due to bone infection but that is a small price ro pay for saving the rest of the foot. After two surgeries and 6 months in a wheel chair he is back to work (desk job and no walking) and is doing physical rehab to rebuild his leg muscles. God has truly been good to us.

Getting the infection undercontrol and the fever down is a great  beginning. Please try to get as much rest as you can. exhaustion sets in easily in times of stress and you need to be strong now more than ever to handle the work ahead. I had to give up my fierce pride at doing everything and learn to accept help when offered and even harder to ask for help at times. A dear friend finally reminded me that she and others NEED to help and I needed to learn to accept that for a little while I needed to recieve rather than give.
God's Warrior

Zany, I want to tell you how good it is to be able to communicate with you again. I knew that you were going through a really rough time of it and it is good to know that you are really and truly ok now. Yes, learning to receive rather than give all of the time is something that is hard to learn.  Sounds like you have truly learned that lesson this time.  I don't think I am there yet but I try harder to do that now than I ever did before. Age and time make us wiser if we just try to learn those little lessons in life.

How delightful that your mom is doing so well and is experiencing new fun things in life. I know your dad is looking down from heaven enjoying her new found delights in life.  I have one dear friend your mom's age like that and it is really great seeing her still enjoying life in spite of being a fairly recent widow. I only hope that if I am the one who survives that I can do likewise.  Losing one's mate is never easy and is truly frightning for the person if it has been a long time marriage.  When you have thought and worked as a team for a very long time, it is hard to think in an individual manner.

That is such a "praise the Lord" thing that your Bob has come so far in his recovery.  I know that he must feel that he has a new lease on life these days and I feel certain that he gives all the credit to the Lord.

Back from the hospital. No bone scan today but they did do an MRI. Don't know the results yet. They are talking about doing some hyperbaric treatment. Looks like God has spared him from the cellulitis. Praise the Lord. DH is feeling better but he is getting stir crazy. He is not a lay around person. I am beat. I have done 2 day's work on 2 1/2 hours sleep. I'm getting too old for this. I'm off to bed.
God's Warrior

Things are sounding a whole lot better. We will keep praying that will continue.  How far are you having to commute to the hospital? I know you must be worn to a nub, as my grandmother used to say. I am praying for you also because I know that your health isn't the best in the world either.  Hopefully you can crash and get a really good night's sleep.  Are you taking care of the horses and all the other chores all by yourself?  I hope someone is helping you with all that. I will continue praying for all of the needs that you and you husband have and for a rapid recovery for him. Being confined in a hospital situation must be torture for him since he is an "out and about" kind of person.
smokey the dog

I am glad that there is no cellulitus. My brother in law has that. It goes away and keeps coming back. He always seems to have his foot up so his leg won's swell. Not fun.
CajuninKy

I am taking care of all the animals. I have to get to the barn now and get that bunch started. These at the house are nearly done. I also have clothes washing so I'm waiting on those. Way too much to do in too few hours.
God's Warrior

I suspected that you are probably working yourself to death as is usually the case with such health issues on the part of a spouse, whichever one that might be.  Wish there was something we could do to help you. Keeping on praying is what we need to do since we can't actually be there physically to help you.  Love, hugs and prayers headed your way, Kiddo.

Just talked to DH. He is having surgery in the morning at 11. The infection is in the bone. Please pray diligently that it is contained in the toe and not into the foot. He is very tired as he has not been able to sleep with all the goings on at the hospital.

I am doing okay. Headache has eased off a bit. I will have to get somebody to lift some 100lb sacks of feed into the truck for me. I can't lift them anymore. I do okay with the 50lb sacks but the place we buy from doesn't sell them. I wonder if they get a finders fee from the local docs for hernias. LOL
God's Warrior

Thanks for the update.
We will all be praying for the foot to not be involved in the infection. I hope he can get some needed rest before the surgery.  They wear you out in hospitals waking you up for any and everything that could actually wait until morning.

I will also pray that folks will start to come forward to help you at this time of need.  You really don't need to be lifting those heavy feed bags.
CajuninKy

Thank you all so much for your prayers. DH came through the surgery well. He did not lose anymore toes or anymore of his foot. The infection is in the stump of bone where his great toe used to be. They cleaned it out and he will be on antibiotics for 6 months or more. He is feeling good and is ready to come home.
God's Warrior

Cheryl posted this additional information at another website this morning. Because some of you here at TGP and also people on my email list have been checking on this situation I decided to update the post a bit with this additional news. Smile

His blood count is low so please continue to remember him. He has a long fight ahead. He is ready to go home but he will be in the hospital for at least a few more days. Family arrived from home (Louisiana) at 11 yeaterday. They expected DH (darling husband) would already be in surgery before they could get here, but he wasn't taken in until 3pm. It was nice to get to visit before his surgery. They will be here until tomorrow night. DD (daughter) will be staying because our DS (son), DDIL (daughter-in-law) and our other DGS (grandson) will be getting here on Wednesday and they will all stay until next Monday. It will be so nice to have the family all together again. DBIL (brother-in-law) will put the feed in the truck for me today. We already have the feed bought and it is in a storage area here at the house. We buy a ton at a time. I have to have it put in the truck for me so I can take it to the barn. I have barrels there in the feed room that hold 600 lbs. I can handle it once I get to the barn. I have to go get a ton a feed this week and a load of sawdust. It will be so nice having DS (son) here to help with that.

I can feel your prayers and I appreciate them so much. I am staying at the hospital tonight. I think DH will be able to rest better if we are together. I know I will. We do not spend much time apart. DD is here and can get Knock off to school.

DH rested well last night. He was feeling good this morning. He had eaten his breakfast and was ready for a nap when I left. I had to come home to get the work done with the animals. I cleaned out the duck pen and got the ducks too cold. They were trembling and falling over so I had to put them in warm water and now I have them in the brooder under the heat light with the chicks. It's close quarters but that will keep them warmer
CajuninKy

I am back from the barn. I mucked stalls for 4 1/2 hours and I had to leave 1 for tomorrow. The ducks are all fine. I think I will leave them in the brooder tonight. I am going back to the hospital in just a bit.
God's Warrior

Thanks for the reports, Cajun. You must be about ready to fall on your face by now. I am glad that everything is surviving, even the ducks, because you have had a full plate lately that could have very well left something undone. Good job, girl!  Sometimes we don't have a clue how much strength we do have until the body has to do/give more than usual to keep things going.  In my case, the Lord has always given me the mental and physical abilities needed in times of crisis even though i never could have imagined it before hand. Our God hears our prayers, knows our needs and provides for us even when things seem almost impossible for us to do. Sometimes he sends angels and other people to help us and we probably never even recognize the angels among us. Praise the Lord that things are coming together once again for you and your family. We will keep praying for all of you.

The doctor came in this morning and is very happy with the foot. DH may get to go home today! He is being allowed to take a shower and that small pleasure has thrilled him. It will be so nice if he is able to be out of the hospital for our kid's visit. It will be such a fun and relaxing time. The weather here is so nice right now. We may get to take a sight seeing drive.
God's Warrior

Such wonderful news!  You guys have fun.  You certainly deserve a little fun after all you have been through. Praise the good Lord for answered prayers and loved ones.  He is so good to his children.
CajuninKy

Yes, He is and we are so thankful for his blessings and for such good friends in cyber land. You don't know how much we appreciate your prayers and how much we have relied on them.
God's Warrior

Smile It was a priviledge being able to pray for him and for you.
Mary

Praise the Lord for his loving care! I hope your DH does come home today. A hospital is a poor place to get any rest!
CajuninKy

DH was finally able to come home this evening at 5pm. Our DS and his wife and son got here this morning and we are so happy to all be together. We took a little sight seeing ride on the way home from the hospital. Then DH stayed home while the kids and I went and got the work done at the barn.

DS killed one of the drakes off the creek this afternoon. We plucked and cleaned it and tomorrow we will have pot fried duck!

I am beat now and I think I will be going to bed early. I will update you more tomorrow.
God's Warrior

What a nice happy ending complete with a duck meal.  Enjoy your precious family, my friend.
