My Dahlia Collection

Hello Everyone,
Here are a few of my dahlias that I planted last Summer. My first time ever growing dahlia's and I was very happy with them.

CajuninKy

I love the 3rd and 4th ones. They are beautiful. I used to grow some flowers but I don't anymore. I only have a small bit of room for growing and I use it for veggies. I have never had any luck with planting flowers in pots. I really love walking around and taking pictures of other peoples flowers and especially of wild flowers and trees. I will have to upload some of my better ones to my photobucket account so I can post them. I wish I could post here straight from "My Pictures" like on the other site. It sure would be easier. I am much more likely to do something if it is easy. LOL Most of my good pictures are on a different computer that needs work so I can't get to them. GRRRR

I will send you some print screens on this subject, Cajun?  It is just needless work for you having to go to so many different places just to post your pictures.  Can you get your pictures off the other computer using a flashdrive?  Someone might let you borrow one for a few minutes if you don't own one.
CajuninKy

I posted some pics the new way. That is great and very easy. Get ready for pics!!!

What is a flash drive. I am a computer dummy.

Those are pretty.  I used to have some but they all eventually died out, partly because of giant whitefly and probably partly because maybe I didn't water enough.
God's Warrior

Aloe, I have never grown asters and don't know anyone who has. They are beautiful. I have never heard of the giant white fly either. I hope we don't have them here.  They don't sound good.

Cajun, I am proud of you.  I just knew you could get the hang of the posting and you DID! Great!
A flashdrive is.......oh gee.....Lots of people carry them around and they look somewhat like key rings. Here is some info. from the internet shortened to try to explain simply what it is.
.
USB flash drives offer potential advantages over other portable storage devices, particularly the floppy disk. They have a more compact shape, operate faster, hold much more data, have a more durable design, and operate more reliably due to their lack of moving parts.
A flash drive consists of a small printed circuit board protected inside a plastic, metal, or rubberised case, robust enough for carrying with no additional protection—in a pocket or on a key chain, for example. The USB connector is protected by a removable cap or by retracting into the body of the drive, although it is not liable to be damaged if exposed. Most flash drives use a standard type-A USB connection allowing plugging into a port on a personal computer.

As far as I know, giant whitefly is just a California problem, at least at this time.  They are native to some other country and got here by accident.  The state released a whitefly parasite to keep them under control and it has helped some.  I would guess that they would get killed off in a place that gets cold.  They like more things than dahlias.

Oh my!  Hopefully we won't get those.  However, we have now become a state with lots of coyotes and armadillos and until recently that hasn't been the case.  Hopefully they won't be accompanied by the giant white flies.
CajuninKy

I did not know armadillos were as far North as TN. We don't have them here.

The problem with my computer is this: A windows file needed for booting up somehow got deleted. I have the recovery discs so I could go that way but I am afraid if I do it will wipe all my photos off in the process. I would like to get someone to take the pics off the hard drive before I recover it. I have heard there is a way to do this by connecting it to another, working hard drive and flipping a switch called a slave switch? Maybe your DSIL may know about it.
God's Warrior

Yep, we are now seeing them squashed on the road and people are starting to complain about the damage they are doing.  Like we need a new varmint to make our day!!!!!

I will copy and paste your post and send it to Geoff by email along with your email address. Whether this falls into the line of his knowledge I don't have a clue.  He will need to tell you that. Since no one is working at his office today, he might not get the message until tomorrow.

Computer Problem

If you put your Windows installation disk in, reboot, and read each prompt along the way, you can choose to do a repair installation.  (This assumes that your PC is set up to boot from the CD first if it contains a bootable disk.  Most PCs are set up that way in case of a problem like the one that you are having.)  A repair installation wil replace any missing files with whatever is on the CD.  It should allow you to bring your computer up.  If there are any instances of the replaced file(s) that are more up-to-date, Windows update should download and install them for you once you're up again.  That way, you won't need to install your drive on another PC as a slave so that you can retrieve the images stored on it.  A repair installation just fix Windows.  It will leave all of your personal files on your hard drive.
CajuninKy

Thanks. I sure would love to get to all those pics.
