I got to thinking… Singing in the choir has a lot in common with being a Christian. You follow a choir director (Jesus). Read from a hymnal (Bible), and have different parts to sing (Spiritual Gifts). When you join the choir (become a Christian) you don’t know the words, or even the tune. You try to follow along, but you sing wrong notes (sin), and you miss your cues. Following other choir members does not help because they are singing different parts, and you don’t know where you fit in yet. Eventually you catch on as you follow the lead of the choir director. Perhaps you even learn to sing harmony! The Church as a whole makes beautiful music to God even though individual members may hit occasional wrong notes.
