Update Notice:
We have found that if we don't want undesirable ads to appear in our posts we have to use code or some other method (leave some letters blank in the wording) to keep the Google automatic ads from appearing that are associated with the material in the posts. I hope that you can read between the lines of the different posts. If it causes a problem for anyone, please let me know and we will try to come up with another method.
Aloe

I'm glad you posted that right up front on the home page.

It was something I felt that I just must do. No way would I ever want anyone to think that we approve of such ads. Please pray that we can get this situation solved before too much time passes. We seem to take one step forward and two backward trying to get this website established and running smoothly. Every time Satan hits us with some new roadblock, I know that he doesn't want the site to continue and is blocking us in any and every possible way.

JUST DON'T CLICK on any undesirable ads please. That is the only way I know at the present time to avoid them. I am really sorry about this. Please help us pray them away!

If you have control over your individual bulletin board's content, Google does provide for choosing what ads show on your site:

Safeguarding your business standards is our business too.

We're committed to maintaining our customers' business standards. That's why Google AdSense features these safeguards:

* Competitive ad filters. You can block competitive ads, or other ads you want to keep off your site, simply by telling us which URLs to block.

* Ad Review. Before ads appear on your site, they're reviewed using a combination of human and automated processes. The review process takes into account a variety of factors, including the quality of the ad and whether it's suitable for all audiences.

* Sensitive content filters. At times, certain ads may be inappropriate for some pages. For example, Google automatically filters out ads that would be inappropriate on a news page about a catastrophic event.

* Choose your own default ads. In the unlikely event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads on your page, we offer you the option of displaying a default ad of your choice. This ensures that your advertising space is always being used as effectively as possible.

Hope that helps. Smile

Praise the Lord! Thank you so much for posting that information, Kimberly. I have sent Geoff an email telling him to follow through with this and contact our site management to ask them to request that inappropriate ads for our religious site be discontinued. Hopefully things will be remedied soon.

Anyone seeing any further ads that are inappropriate, please note the URL where they appear on our site. I will appreciate it if you will report them to me immediately. Many thanks for your patience.

Update- August 8, 2006

Mom,
I’ve checked the link out. It looks pretty good, but there are a lot of dos and don’ts involved. You may want to spend some time reading it in case there are some issues that we won’t want to find out about later (such as what happened with PostImage.org). I need to find out how to add it to the forum. It may be necessary to add it to each page, but hopefully I can add it to one or two parts of the code and it will work for every page.
I’m working on it.

The myfreeforum site administrator had this to say about the Google ads.

"Google ads take time to focus correctly and reflect content. Generally they are so well on target they enhance a forum. But it does take a little time."

Hopefully the adjustment will take place rapidly. If anyone sees any more that are objectionable please let us know, That way we will at least know if they are "getting focused correctly".
In the event that this doesn't happen, I am prepared to pay to have an ad free site.

The ads seem to have adjusted themselves, praise the Lord. Has anyone seen any that aren't appropriate lately?

Update, there is one that is appearing just below this post concerning dr_ids. We don't approve of it but we seem to be stuck with it. Just don't click on it please!!!!!!!
Mary

Yesterday I saw one that had G-y and Christian in the ad title. I would never click on anything questionable because that just encourages more junk.
God's Warrior

YEAH! I saw that too. It all depends on what religious? denomination you belong to as to whether you believe there is anything wrong with ANYTHING!!!!!! "GRRRRR!"
Aloe

Does anyone else think of these verses when you see those questionable ads?

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. II Timothy 4: 3-4

In the past, I have clicked on a couple of the questionable-looking ads out of curiosity. !There is a lot of disinformation out there!

If you reading this are a seeker or new Christian, be sceptical of what you read on the internet. Feel free to be sceptical of what you read on this web site if you want. We hope that what we write is in accordance with the God's word and will, but we are only human. To get The Truth, go to the source - the Bible. Don't read just a verse or two here and there. Things can be taken out of context. Read whole chapters and whole books. I suggest starting with John and Romans but don't stop there. We all have different needs, experiences, and personalities, and other books might speak to you more. Here is the Bible on-line in the New King James version (very accurate translation but without the archaic language of the original King James version). http://www.biblegateway.com/versi...VersionInfo&vid=50&lang=2 If English is not your preferred language, other languages can be found here. http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/

AMEN! Thank you so very much for posting that, Aloe!
