IdiotsAct 4:13 ¶ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

in the NT, an unlearned, illiterate, man as opposed to the learned and educated: one who is unskilled in any art.
I was struck by this passage which was mentioned in Sunday's sermon. The thing that struck me was the word defined above, "ignorant". The greek is so like the english work idiot. The officials marveled, the only thing different from the average "idiot" was that THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS.
So if "idiots" who had been with Jesus could turn the world upside down, what's your excuse?
