A neat gardening site sent to me by a gardening friend.

Welcome to Plant Delights Nursery @ Juniper Level Botanic Gardens... the home of Plants with an Attitude! Plant Delights Nursery Inc., is a NC/USA based international mail order firm specializing in unusual perennials (some tender perennials for those of you north of zone 7). The nursery was officially opened in 1991 after 30+ years of plant collecting and selling at small back yard sales. The on-line catalog features well over 1000 different perennials, including a wide variety of US natives, as well as their asian counterparts. Genera of special focus include amorphophallus, arisaema, asarum, cannas, crinum lilies, epimediums, ferns, hardy palms, hardy ginger lilies, helleborus, heuchera, hosta, lobelia, ornamental grasses, pulmonaria, solomon's seal, tiarella, verbena, and zephyranthes, ...to mention but a few.
Many of the plants listed are our own introductions, in addition to those of other breeders...often appearing here for the first time in commerce (see list of PDN Intros). Other offerings are simply some of mother nature's wonderful and overlooked gems. Our plants are not just botanical novelties, but good non-invasive garden plants. We like to encourage gardeners to plant in our now famous "Drifts of One", which in contrast to conventional landscaping techniques helps to put fun back in gardening.
This is a quote from my friend.
"They have a lot of hard to find and unusual plants. I ran across them in some magazine and have gone nuts. I ordered several strange things that should grow like crazy in our area so I guess whoever buys our place when we're dead and gone will wonder what kinda nut lived here"....

They have several dates during the year when their nursery is open to the public and its well worth the trip. The plants look as good in person as they do in the catalog and it sure is tempting to spend a small fortune during a visit. I had the opportunity to chat with Tony Advent for a few minutes and he's a really nice, down to earth guy.

"Pulling Onions - A Basket of Ideas from the Backyard" by Michael P. Garofalo. The title is a bit deceiving as there is a wealth of stuff there not related to onions. LOL

Thanks for posting it, Elena
What a really great site that one is! I read a lot of the quotes there, and can't wait to have time to read more. My favorite one so far is: "Always leave one corner of the garden for something not quite ordinary..."

Thank you for posting that link, I almost got lost over there looking at it... lol

Isn't it easy to get lost in such "places" when they contain stuff we all love to read about?
