God Wants Us to Teach Our Children about Him.God Wants Us to Teach Our Children about Him
What About Our Children?
In the Bible Deuteronomy 6:5-7 says:
"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." (NIV)
God wants us to teach our children about Him.
Scripture References: Genesis 18:19, Psalm 78:1-8, Proverbs 22:6, John 10:27-29, Ephesians 6:4
Matthew 18:10-14 says:
"See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost."
What is my responsibility as a believing parent?
• To pray for my children.
• To teach them Biblical truths.
• To model godly behavior.
This can be a daunting task, especially if your wife/husband doesn't want his children "brain-washed" or "indoctrinated" by Biblical teaching; however, God will make a way and bless your faithfulness in this area as your raise your children in His ways.

If you are the mate of an unspiritual person, you naturally worry about how your children are going to come up. But God doesn't want your children to be lost. Though you may often worry about this, especially when you see signs that your children are developing ungodly habits, remind yourself that God Himself gave your beloved little ones to you and is watching over their hearts and minds protecting them. Not only that, but Jesus Christ died for them. Pray for them and put them in His Hands
Practical Steps
Here are some simple ways that you can influence your children without "imposing" on your wife/husband. And if she/he feels very strongly about Christian influences in her/his home, you can still do many of these while she/he is at work or elsewhere. Remember that God has commissioned you to bring your children up in the faith. I'm not advocating sneaking around behind your wife’s/husband's back or undermining her/him to your children, but obedience to God should be your priority and He will bless you for it.
Take your children to church with you. Involve them in Vacation Bible School and youth activities.
Read Bible stories to your children at bedtime or for older children, offer them books to read that are written by Christian authors such as C. S. Lewis or Frank Peretti.
Listen to Christian music in the car and during the day at home. Find a good Christian radio station in your area and listen to that with your children.
Let them help you with acts of charity such as choosing clothes to take to Salvation Army or bagging up canned goods for your local food bank. Tell them that it makes Jesus happy when you are kind to others.
Begin each day by praying with your children or having a devotional time.
