One day, long ago, a little bird in Galilee saw a large crowd gathered around a Man carrying a heavy wooden cross. On the Man's head was a crown made from a thorn branch. The thorns were long and sharp. The little bird saw that the thorns were hurting the Man. It wanted to help Him, so it flew down and took the longest, sharpest thorn in its tiny beak.
The bird tugged and pulled until the thorn snapped from the branch. Then a strange thing happened. A drop of blood fell onto the bird's breast, staining it bright red.
The stain never went away. And so today the robin proudly wears a red breast, because it helped a Man named Jesus.
May God bless you today,
And keep you all year through.
May God give you all the faith it takes,
To make your dreams come true.
May His love and wisdom always help,
To guide you on your way.
May His light shine down upon you now,
To bless your every day.

The Watered Lilies
The Watered Lilies
Author unknown
The Master stood in His garden,
Among the lilies fair,
Which His own right hand had planted,
And trained with tend'rest care.
He looked at their snowy blossoms,
And marked with observant eye
That the flowers were sadly drooping,
For their leaves were parched and dry.
"My lilies need to be watered,"
The Heavenly Master said;
"Wherein shall I draw it for them,
And raise each drooping head?"
Close to His feet on the pathway,
Empty, and frail, and small,
An earthen vessel was lying,
Which seemed no use at all;
But the Master saw, and raised it
From the dust in which it lay,
And smiled, as He gently whispered,
"This shall do My work today."
"It is but an 'earthen' vessel,
But it lay so close to Me;
It is small, but it is empty-
That is all it needs to be."
So to the fountain He took it,
And filled it full to the brim;
How glad was the earthen vessel
To be of some use to Him!
He poured forth the living water
Over His lilies fair,
Until the vessel was empty,
And again He filled it there.
He watered the drooping lilies
Until they revived again;
And the Master saw with pleasure.
That His labor had not been vain.
His own hand had drawn the water
Which refreshed the thirsty flowers;
But He used the earthen vessel
To convey the living showers.
And to itself it whispered,
As He laid it aside once more,
"Still will I lie in His pathway,
Just where I did before.
"Close would I keep to the Master,
Empty would I remain,
And perhaps some day He may use me
To water His flowers again."

God's Bouquet
God's Bouquet
You must bloom where you are planted
In the garden we call life,
And bring some special beauty to
Each corner where there's strife.
Perhaps you're but a dandelion,
Wishing you were a rose,
Yet in this place of growing things,
You're the one God chose.
It's up to you to finish what
The Good Lord has begun,
By growing just the way you should
And face the rising sun.
There's room for you, if you but choose,
In a glorious array
Of beauty from God's garden,
that He'll add to his bouquet.

The Flowers God Has Given Us
The Flowers God Has Given Us
The flowers God has given us
Have a purpose all their own.
Their magical colors brighten up our lives
And their beauty brings smiles when they're shown.
Some bloom in the spring, some bloom in the fall
Some bloom in the mid-summer's heat,
But the most amazing thing of all
Is each one has its own little treat.
The beauty of a flower opening
Gives proof of God above.
For that is proof that miracles
Exist on this land that we love.
Roses, carnations and daisies
To mention just a few.
Bring joy, peace and happiness
When they come into our view.
When you give someone flowers
It's an expression of care and love
Because flowers are a gift from the heart
Created by God above.

God's Blessings: FLOWERS
God's Blessings: FLOWERS
To see the world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower;
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
William Blake
The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feat, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. - Robert Louis Stevenson
Little flower, but if I could understand, what you are, root and all in all, I should know what God and man is. - Tennyson
Why are wildflowers so important to those of us who care at all for flowers? For me, anyway, it is because they come like gifts from God (or Nature), and to encounter them in their natural habitat is an extraordinary aesthetic pleasure.
Katharine S. White
Christianity sees plants and flowers as created by God to show forth and share with humans the divine goodness, beauty and truth - the purpose of all Creation. In this flowers may be enjoyed simply and directly in themselves as showing forth God's goodness and beauty, or, more fully, as archetypes, signatures, symbols, and bearers of legends, mirroring the revealed articles of Christian faith - thereby serving as means for their teaching, recollection, contemplation and celebration.

I Heard the Stars Sing
I Heard the Stars Sing
Judith Bronte
Have you ever heard the stars sing;
Beheld a brilliant moon when it beams?
Or seen the gazelle leap for joy,
As if a tightly wound up toy?
I've seen clouds dancing with the breeze,
Kept in time by the directing trees.
Sunlight floods every fiber and pore,
As plants raise their heads to ask for more.
Birds add their voice to the orchestration,
Playing every day, in every nation.
Have you ever heard the twinkling stars sing,
Praises and honor to an All-Wise King?

SPRING-ING TO LIFE
SPRING-ING TO LIFE
As the bitter cold of winter passes, the warmth of spring will soon kiss the ground. Seeds, plants and trees long thought of as dead, will come to life again. In the same way, our faith when peppered with large doses of prayer, takes on new life and becomes a powerful weapon in the hands of our Lord. May our renewed faith cause us to say to our heavenly Father "...may Your kingdom come and may Your will be done". Patricia Anthony
