God, I'm coming home to You
please help me on this flight
I haven't yet the strength to fly
though I try with all my might

My wings seem to have disappeared,
I jump and flap in vain
I think I'm growing new ones
and they're causing me great pain

God, I'm coming home to You
but the skies still look unclear
I am holding back from taking off,
my wings not yet full grown, I fear

I wait until I'm fit to fly
even though I hear You call
For the way back down is dangerous
if I should drop and fall

God, I'm coming home to You
but as of yet I'm still earthbound
If You would help my wings to grow
I could take off from this ground

And You would see me soaring
ever upward in the sky
On wings that You had given me
so that I once again could fly.
