Cone Head SmokeyHere's what Smokey looked like for a while last week.
He tore one of his dewclaws, and we had to keep him from licking the area.

No, we felt sorry for him. He was bumping into the door frames, table and chairs, and couldn't jump up on the bed.
We took it off the next day and re-wrapped his foot.

Poor fella. It's hard to look dignified in that get up. Glad he is better.

Just as a side question, how old is Smokey? I don't think anyone has ever asked you that before. Is he in good overall healtH? I hope so.

Smokey is 8 years old, a bit overweight (like his owners)
and sometimes gets aches and pains from jumping off the bed. Otherwise he's getting along fine.

For his size he could probably live to be what -10 or 12?
You need to get him a stool or lower table to jump on when getting off the bed. As they get older they don't really need to have that harsh jolt to the legs that once didn't bother them. I don't do too well when I jump out of bed either.

I think Corgi's live to be 12-14, I'm not sure about Sheltys.
We got one of those doggie steps, but he would have none of it. There is also not much room to put one. We got some Dasequin (sp?) from the vet for his joints, and that seems to have helped.

They do have minds of their own, don't they? There are a lot of people like that also.
