I just received the email below from my son-in-law, Geoff. Read from the top to the bottom of this post for the latest information. Please pray for Donald and his son Ricky. Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Mom,
The message below is from Terri Gore, the lead singer of The Chigger Hill Boys and Terri. When they played so wonderfully for us on Saturday night, her husband Ricky (the band’s bass fiddle player) was in the middle of a medical crisis with his Dad. On Friday, Ricky’s Dad’s lung collapsed and he is currently fighting for his life with only a 40% chance of survival. Please put out this urgent prayer request for these brave and selfless warriors for Christ.

Subject: Please pray for Ricky and his dad

Hello friends,

Some of you may know that Ricky’s dad had a lung collapse last Friday. We thought he was improving but we heard that he has to have a surgery to remove infection from behind his lung. Ricky (on his way to MO) called to tell me that the doctors have now said that without the surgery he will die and they say that with the surgery he has only a 40% chance of survival. Ricky is currently about 1½ hours from the hospital.

Please pray for safety and comfort for Ricky, healing for his dad and guidance for the doctors. His dad's name is Donald Gore and he lives in Ellington, MO. He is in the hospital in Des Peres (pronounced da pair) near St. Louis, MO (since Friday). His surgery was unscheduled so they were going to operate as soon as they could get him in today, so we don’t know what time. We appreciate you all so much. And we know that God’s resources are limitless. Thank you!

Morning!

I spoke to Ricky last night. His dad made it through the surgery alright. The next concern is to take him off of the respirator and get him breathing on his own, which I believe; they are doing sometime this morning. Thank you all for your prayers so far, please continue to keep them in your prayers.

Ricky says his dad is doing better. They removed the breathing tube and he is breathing on his own. Ricky said he seemed to be in good spirits. The doctors said he will be in pain for a while because they had to go in through his side to get behind his lung, so he's on pain medication. Ricky didn't know how long his dad would have to stay in the hospital. He said they spent some good time together last night talking and watching some TV in the hospital room.

I know that Don is doing so well because of the prayers of our friends and family. Ricky has told him about how many folks are praying for him. Thank you all!

I just found out last night that Don is not a Christian. Apparently he has gone through several of these scary situations before and made it through without turning to the Lord. Please pray that his son's witnessing to him there in the hospital and telling him about all of the prayers that are being said for him will have a positive effect on him and that he will turn his life around and turn to the Lord.

Today's Update from Terri:

Ricky said his dad had a rough day yesterday, but was stabilized when I talked to him. They are having trouble with him bleeding from the incision because of the blood-thinning medication he takes for his heart. They're going to take him off of that medication so the incision heals but this increases the possibility of blood clots.

Ricky is going to see how he is doing by lunchtime today and then, if he's doing alright, Ricky may head home.

Please continue to keep them both in your prayers. Thanks for being there!

Don took a sudden turn for the worse. He passed away about 6 weeks ago. Ricky took some time off work to finalize his dad’s affairs, etc. Please pray for him and his family in this time of sorrow.
