This past week we have experienced 2 first time events for us. One was sad and the other was joyous.

The first was a sad occassion. A friend of ours passed away. He was the trail boss of the saddle club we were members of. He loved his horses, loved to ride and did so on every possible occassion. We were asked to ride our horses in his funeral procession in memory of his love for riding. We rode directly in front of the hearse to the cememtery. It seemed a fitting tribute to his memory and he will be missed.

The second occassion was a happy celebration. A wedding. My husband has preformed many wedding ceremonies in his 30 years of ministry but this one was a bit different. It was an "old west" theme and my husband was on horseback! His steady go to mare was not available because of a loose shoe so he had to rely on our green mare who has only been ridden a few months. She worked like a champion and we are so proud of her. We also took Knock's horse, Goldy, so he could trail ride while we were there. His little mare was the hit of the party. Everyone loved her. He was giving pony rides to the children and even leading adults around on her. There was a cook out on an open fire and the wedding party looked like they had stepped off the stage of Tombstone. We had a wonderful time.
