Thoughts during communion

As I sat quietly after the communion plate was passed. I held the "bread" in one hand and wondered at the changes from New Testament times. Todays "bread" was just a bit of cracker, not the real chunks of bread torn from a loaf. It was dry and mostly tasteless.
How like the lives of most so called Christians today. Their spiritual lives are dry and tasteless too.
My hope is that we will reach out to the Living Bread who came down from Heaven and be nourished by the food He gives, not some modern dry crusty proper cracker.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
