If I weren’t such a wimp I would ride that big, black motorcycle that is sitting in my driveway. My son parked it there on Friday morning, and today is Sunday and I have been casting my eye in its direction ever since. My son came for the long weekend to enjoy his boat, and the motorcycle was just in case he got bored with boating, I guess.  At any rate it is looking a little forlorn, much like it feels neglected. The key is on my table. I could take it for a ride if I were not such a wimp.

And I could find a gently winding country road where there was no traffic, one that runs like a ribbon beside a lazy stream.  Then I could find a straight stretch and push the throttle up a notch, and ride like the wind as if there were no tomorrow.

I could fly with the wind in my hair, and the sun would beat down upon me and I would not feel the heat at all. I could go to faraway places where I knew no one, and no one knew me.  And I could come to a curve and lean my body into the curve instead of away from it, like somebody explained to me once long ago, then sail along like a gentle breeze, going nowhere and caring not.

I could pass children playing in their yards, and I would laugh and wave and they would wonder what possessed a little old lady to ride such a huge black motorcycle on a gently winding country road. But they would want to ride, too.

Dogs would bark and run along beside me, but I could out run them and leave them far behind wiping dust from their eyes and noses.  And people would stare and shake their heads in wonder as I passed them by.

I could be far away and no one would ever know where to find me.

I could do all of that.
If my feet could touch the ground.
If I were not so old.
If I were not such a wimp. Wink

AWWWW!  What a charming acticle.  I could just visualize myself riding along with you on your carefree jaunt.  Hey, maybe we could get you one of those motor trikes, whatever they call them, that the older generation rides in places like Florida and other retirement communities.  I don't think you could attain the speed you'd want but the safety factor would definitely be worth considerning. Thanks again for sharing your usual delightful whimsical thoughts with us, Tinkerbell.   Smile

I'm not sure she could outrun the dogs on a trike, or feel the wind in her hair. Leaning into corners wouldn't be the same either, nope, it's a two wheeled beast or nothing!

Elena, my dear,
Thank you, but it seems Mary understands the situation completely. Could be that she has the same longings hidden deep within, the same urges. But I have them pretty well under control this morning. Finally, I hope. But that key is still on my table.

Mary, go back to the first post and look at what has been added.

Sharon, forget the trike idea until you are as old as dirt. Mary is right.  It just wouldn't be the same.  Now....maybe that good looking but dumb  guy at the marina could take you for rides on the motorcycle. Cool  It is a thought anyway although probably not a very good one.

Just 3 things, sunburn, road rash, bugs in in your teeth.

Leave it to the dog to put a damper on my motorcycle ride.
Good grief, Smokey...I can dream, can't I? You are only jealous because I left you in the dust.

But knowing our good loyal Smokey he was barking his head off protecting you from that huge black monster that was carrying you away.  Smokey is a good hero dog (like Lassie and Rin Tin Tin) that is always on the ball protecting man (and woman) kind from danger. Smile

I think I'll just stick to putting my head out the car window, and letting others drive me around!
Cool

Smokey, dear, you are one handsome and highly intelligent dog. I'll drive you around anytime, but you can't hang your head out my window.
