I read a quote today from Harry S. Truman: In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves... self-discipline with all of them came first. This is so true.
My Dad used to tell me that the hardest battle I'd ever fight would be with myself. This is also so true. We must be diligent in our pursuit of God and the things of the Spirit. It takes daily, persistent work. Thank God that I'm not doing battle against myself and my human nature alone. I have the Holy Spirit as my Helper. _________________ snookie
In the movie, "Abraham" Lot was given the choice of going to the left or to the right when it became apparent that there were too many people for them to all dwell together in the same land. Lot chose the direction toward the city of Sodom and said, "This will be my way" since there are walls to protect us and we will dwell there.
Abraham said, "The people in Sodom are very evil, and my way will be another way." Lot made his decision based on the "easy way". Abraham showed self-discipline, and made his decision to go the difficult way.
History shows that Abraham made the better decision.
