I have been debating over and over whether it is appropriate to make a prayer request of this or not. I've decided that I'll just go ahead and ask and if you don't think it's appropriate, then you don't have to pray for it.
My request is for help in losing weight. It is a real struggle for me. I am ashamed of how I look. I don't even like to see my reflection in the sliding glass door. I guess I have two requests - to lose weight and to be reasonably satisfied with my appearance in the meantime. This isn't too vain, is it? _________________ So they will be called oaks of righteousness,

No problem with that request here. You lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago, you can do it again! I know somebody who recently went on a diabetic diet when her husband was diagnosed, and she has already lost 6 pounds just eating what he needs to eat and cutting out the junk. She is finding that she is more satisfied eating better food and not craving the wrong stuff so much.
I am so glad you posted your request here. This is something that we can all pray with you about. It is so important and your overall health depends on it so much. Overweight problems run in my family and several members have serious health problems because of not being able to bring this problem under control. I was headed in that same direction years ago before stomach problems stopped that problem for me but added many more to the mix. I remember how frustrating it was to try so hard and get nowhere with my efforts. I will start praying with you once again on this problem, Kelli.
One of my daughters has high blood pressure problems and has also developed type 2 diabetis because of her overweight. She is listening to her doctors now and has managed to get the weight off by sticking with her exercise routine and sticking very closely to her diet. Her fear of what was happening to her has caused this unbelievable change in her lifestyle. Prayers have been answered so far for her and I continue to pray for her to have the strength and determination to take care of her health. It will be a lifelong thing and no way can she ever go back to her former lifestyle without causing herself more dangers.
It is a most valid request and we are glad to join with you in prayer about it. And more importantly, if it is important to you then it is important to God. That is how much He loves you and wants good things for your life.
Losing weight is very hard to do and can be so frustrating. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you with will power and peace as you undertake this task with His help.
