Tonight I was listening to the gospel song “Lord I’m Coming Home” on the Internet radio station “All Quartets Radio” and the refrain is as follows.

Refrain:

Coming home, coming home,
Never more to roam,
Open wide Thine arms of love,
Lord, I’m coming home.

And I was thinking, “That’s fine as far as it goes. “ I mean I really like the song, but in reality the minute I or anyone else makes a statement like that we’re asking for trouble. Old Satan immediately gets on his cell phone and contacts the Hellish Highway Department. “Hey guys! Someone wants to “come home!” Get out there pronto with the orange barrels and the detour signs!”

Fortunately we don’t have to worry about confusing Google or Mapquest directions, or GPS coverage. We have God’s instruction manual the Bible.

And just like all instruction manuals they are no good unless you read them!
