In Memory
Author Unknown

One gift, above all others
God gives to us to treasure
One that knows no time, no place
And one gold cannot measure

The precious, poignant tender gift
Of Memory......that will keep
Our dear ones ever in our hearts
Although God gives them sleep

It brings back long remembered things
A song, a word, a smile
And the world's a better place ...
Because we had them for awhile!

YES! YES! YEA! you know that I never cry when my loved ones die? but i try my hardest remember every moment i had to give them a physical form in my life. This was heart gripping, thank you.

Elena
You are quite welcome. A dear friend just lost her grandmother, whom she loved dearly. I was searching for JUST the RIGHT poem for her and was delighted when I found this one. After sending it to her, I thought that perhaps some of you TGP people would appreciate it also.

I, like you, try to do everything possible for the people I love and to let them know that I love them all the time. When they die I always know that I did my best and never have any regrets that I didn't remember to tell them all the time that I love them.

In fact some of them probably get sick of hearing about it, especially the younger ones. Very Happy

I do the same thing, Elena. We've lost not one, but 2 young nephews in the last 8 years, and I didn't get to tell either one of them how much I loved them until it was too late.

My kids seem to never get tired of hearing it. Losing those nephews was like a wake-up call for me, and I don't let a day go by now that I don't let my kids know how much they mean to me. And everyone else, for that matter.

We never know what life has in store for us, that's for sure.

Elena
Nope, and I had rather be a nusience than to be forgetful about telling my loved ones how much I care.

And oh! There lives within my heart
A hope, long nursed by me;
(And should its cheering ray depart,
How dark my soul would be!)

That as in Adam all have died,
In Christ shall all men live;
And ever round His throne abide,
Eternal praise to give.

That even the wicked shall at last
Be fitted for the skies;
And when their dreadful doom is past,
To life and light arise.

I ask not how remote the day,
Nor what the sinners' woe,
Before their dross is purged away;
Enough for me, to know

That when the cup of wrath is drained,
The metal purified,
They'll cling to what they once disdained,
And live by Him that died.

--Anne Bronte (1843)

Say not in grief that she is no more
but say in thankfulness that she was
A death is not the extinguishing of a light,
but the putting out of the lamp
because the dawn has come.
Tagore
