How Weeds are like Romans 8:28
By Smokey the Dog
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.
Now we can all agree that weeds are bad right? They clog our gardens, lawns and fencerows. This all started when I was thinking about a common weed in bloom now, chickory.
It grows all over the US, but was originally brought over from europe. It seems you can use the root of this weed after drying and grinding, as a coffee substitute. See you take the bad weed, apply some heat and voila! something good. I have used another weed in salads; Milkweed. You boil the flowers, young seed pods or young leaves in a change of water and they are ready to eat. The boiling destroys the latex in the sap. (Note; the latex is what makes the monarch butterflies unpalatable to birds.)
Now God does the same thing in us. He takes something bad and through circumstances adds "heat" and voila! something good comes about. Sure this is an oversimplification, but for me it was another way of looking at how God works in our lives.
