Do Not Be Afraid

Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. Isaiah 44:8

I love it when God tells me not to be afraid. He says it a lot in scripture, and for good reason. Fear is easy, and we all do it to the point of paralysis at times. If I’m honest with myself, there seems to always be something that is scaring me. This scripture is God telling me to just relax and trust Him. He’s commanding me not to fear, meaning fear essentially is a choice. I can choose whether or not I give in to it. Fear is something I must deliberately resist even though my emotions are telling me otherwise. If I’m obedient, with God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, I can control my emotions of fear rather than allow them to control me. Honestly, if God is on my side, what do I possibly have to fear?

Amen, Snookie.

In these troublesome times, it is easy to let the devil cause us to fear many things and mentally cripple us with these fears. It is such times as these that try men's hearts and souls. We need to remember what the Bible tells us when we are prone to be badly handicapped by fear. Here are a few Bible scriptures to memorize and fall back on when we are drawn into fear.

Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Deutronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deutronomy 31:8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
