The Following is from Investor's Business Daily of March 7, 2007.
Subject: Computer overload.
A new study from the technology research firm IDC finds that there just isn't enough storage space for all the data that is being produced, so much of it is just being deleted. The study estimates that the world generated 161 billion gigabytes of data last year. That's the equivalent of 12 stacks of books stretching the 92 million miles from the Earth to the sun, or about 3 million times the information
in all the books ever written.
Is it any wonder since the use of the internet is expanding so rapidly? Internet users jumped 10% last year to 747 mil.
The U.S. is no. 1 with 153 mil. followed by China with 86.7 mil. followed by India with 21.1mil. and Russia with 12.7 mil.
