Christians and Gardening
by smokey the dog
Tonight at work I was walking by the hospital gift shop, and I saw they had a couple of decorative round "garden tiles" in the window. One had a hummingbird and some red flowers on it and it said "Gardens always give more than you put into them." It made me think...
A garden is like a Christian. Weeds grow in our lives, bugs attack us, we need watering, and the world gives us a lot of manure too. We sometimes have thorns, but we are always beautiful in God's sight. _________________ You might be a dog lover if: There are more dog toys than people in your bed.
I have a lot of trouble keeping the weeds out of my flower garden. Hopefully my spiritual garden is in better shape. It takes a lot of prayer and Bible study to keep it in good shape however.l
Do you suppose that is why God put Adam and Eve in the Garden, so that they would learn that it takes work to keep it productive and looking good? Although thorns and thistles came after man had sinned, there may have been some weeds to pull, old plants to remove and some cultivation to help the young plants. Our Christian "garden" needs similiar attention.
