Christians Should Stand with Israel

These are unprecedented times to be sure. With crisis abounding across the globe we as followers of Christ are especially sensitive to God's word and Israel's role according to scripture. Dark days are an opportunity for Christians to show compassion and let our faith in Christ shine.

We Christians believe that the Jewish people have a right to live in their ancient land of Israel, and that the modern State of Israel is the fulfillment of this historic right.

We maintain that there is no excuse for acts of terrorism against Israel and that Israel has the same right as every other nation to defend her citizens from such violent attacks.

We should stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel, pray for them and speak out on their behalf whenever and wherever necessary until the attacks stop and they are finally living in peace and security with their neighbors.
These are dangerous days for Israel. Iran's President has repeatedly threatened to wipe Israel off the map and every day gets closer to acquiring the nuclear weapons with which to make good on this threat. Iran's allies, Hezbollah and Hamas, have amassed stockpiles of missiles that can reach all of Israel, and they have demonstrated that they will not hesitate to use them.

Israel's enemies are on the move not only abroad, but also here at home. When Israel sent its army into Gaza to stop missiles from being fired into its towns and cities, the outcry against her was immediate and loud. In the streets of American cities, protesters called for Israel to be "nuked" and for Jews to be "gassed." Yet the large majority of Americans who supported Israel's right to self defense were silent.

The time has come for our leaders and the world to hear from Israel's friends. Israel has the right to exist and defend itself from terrorism. Americans need to stand with Israel at this critical juncture.
