We planted some of this a few years back. I did save some for seed, but admit I didn't store the seeds properly, so I really doubt that they would germinate. Do any of you know where I may get my hands on some fresh, viable seed for these plants?
I believe they are actually a species of gourd, but when DH's aunt gave the seeds to us, she called it "climbing okra". You fry it up just as you would regular okra, and it tastes just like reg. okra. The pods get absolutely huge, but are still edible even at 18" long!
We would so love to have some more of it, and I would behave & store the seeds properly this go-round _________________ Life is short-pray hard!
I hope you are able to locate that orkra. Let us know if anyone responds to your request, please. I would go ahead and plant the seeds you have. One never knows if any will germinate but just one plant will give you the furure seeds you need. I have had that happen to me in the past with other things and believe me, one plant that sprouts will give you what you want. Of course, you can't eat any of it this year!
