As per the request of the powers that be, this is my story tonight, sad but true:
I just spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get my hair down. It goes out and up, you know, so it does take a while to convince it to get down.
"What are you doin' Mom?"
"Oh not much, just gettin' my hair down."
"Well, when your hair gets down, come on over to the dock for a fish fry."
"OK, maybe. If my hair stays down."
"Put some paste on it, Mom, and come on."
"Ummmm, yeah, right."
I would like to have seen the looks on the faces of those who were hearing my son's end of the conversation.
I have a wonderful friend and neighbor who is forever giving me hair products. Then she asks if I have tried them. When I tell her yes, she says, "hmmmm, they don't work, do they?"
Now I am not sure what it is she isn't saying. That I look a fright? That I need to wear a hat? But she continues to give me wonderful hair products, guaranteed to tame the frizzies, control the masses, contain the controlled curl. Yeah, right. Not so far in my lifetime. But she does sell a good product for normal hair, and gives me all her samples. But it has no effect on my brillo head. At all.
At the moment it is tame, actually docile. But what happens, particularly at the lake, is that the humidity rushes to greet it, and then it takes off like a bottle rocket and if you watch you can see the hair coming unglued all over my head. I just stand there and it feels much like little tickles running around barefoot on my scalp.
And y'all think you have problems.

DD used something called "Glue". It even smelled like glue and nothing will move it. Use it on the boy's mohawks. Best for short hair. I just mess mine all up when it's wet and spray it like that. It's all the rage.
Me too, Smokey...heh heh.....maybe better than smelling like Cajun's "Glue"....Good Grief!! What happens when you try to put your glued head down on a pillow?
Think I'll just spray mine like you do, Cajun, and go with the wild child look. Not much more I can do with it...
I call it my frew frew doo. Folks say it makes me look younger. I think they are just a bit skittish to upset a person who'd wear their hair like that on purpose. LOL
