We went to the farm today so I could ride 3 of our horses. The weather was beautiful and it would have been a shame to waste it. A friend had planned to come look at Belle, the new horse, to possibly buy her for his wife. It turned out his wife could not come with him so we will wait until she is free. That makes sense as the horse will be for her. I rode Belle anyway as it has been 20 months since she had been ridden and she needs the handling. She is very tame just not used to being ridden. She won't be ridden hard due to her condition. She is as skinny as a stick. Healthy, but skinny and in need of a bit of TLC. After I worked her just
a bit I let Knock ride her. She was flawless and his confidence has soared today. If our friend decides she is not the horse for them we may keep her for Knock. I'll let him continue to ride her as she gains weight and watch closely to make sure she keeps her present demeanor. Food can have strange effects on an animal. You should see me after a couple candy bars. LOL

There seems to be no better confidence builder than being able to control a horse that is several times your size. I hope she gains some weight quickly and doesn't get a personality change in the process. She seems to be a real sweetheart.

He really loves riding and I'm glad we are in a position now that we can provide that for him. I imagine when Belle puts weight on we will have a hard time recognizing her. She has the structure to be a good sized horse but not too tall. It would be a long time before he outgrew her, IF we decide to keep her. I keep telling myself we have too many horses but one like this doesn't come along often. Maybe I'll sell my big crazy gelding to make room for her.

Thought you all might like an update on Belle. We did sell her and she has a wonderful home. I still see her every once in a while and her new owner loves her. She has gained weight and is happy. Knock has 4 other horses now so he is happy also. This picture is not recent. It is the last one I took before she left us. I think she looks so nice in the field of flowers.

It is heartwarming to see that she has turned out so beautifully and she is so pretty now.  If she only knew to thank you, I feel sure that she would because she owes it all to you.

It feels good to be able to help them. We have had people who want to buy one of our other horses but we did not feel they would give her as good a home as she needs so she will stay with us for now. We feel like all aspects of their lives are our responsibility and we want to do right by them. We did right by Belle and I know she is happy.
